New News, Check out the "Pickens' Plan" for energy independence.
My own thoughts include using solar (cells and other) and electric vehicles. The advantages of electric vehicles over Hydrogen Fuel Cells, Natural Gas, and Bio Fuels are that:
1) the technology is over 100 years old (except for the batteries which are over 10 years old)
2) The distribution infrastructure is already in place (check out your nearest electrical outlet)
3) The technology is potentially utility independent (with Solar cells or Wind mills) which none of the other technologies are.
If you want to know why electric cars aren't overflowing our roads today check out the DVD "Who killed the electric car?" from your local BlockBusters or Netflix. It's an eye opener.
