Status of the Twins (as of 7/16/06)

Bill Note:

Hi Mike,

I'm happy to report that Annie and Susie are happy, healthy and thriving.  They are experiencing a series of firsts; their first summertime (and attendant heatwave), their first visit to Sam Francisco, their first taste of solid food, the list goes on and on.  Happily, they are enjoying the experience and seem to be okay with the world around them.

This summer has been a busy time for Anne and Susie.  They were Baptised 2 weeks ago and had a good time with all the activities.  Their aunt, my sister, Sue came to visit as well as their god-mothers Beverly Bridges and Dona Mavrakis.  Fred and Madeline Progner were also here.  My cousin Carol, also my god-mother, came from Florida and she will be here until mid August.  After the baptism ceremony, the Anne and Susie had a party in their honor at the home of fellow Rotarian Jack and Maria Rogers.

Happiest news of all is that the babies are surrounded by lots of love.  Lucia is wonderful.  It is so obvious that Anne, Susanne and Lucia have a love affair going on.  She takes such good care of Annie and Susie.  I am very lucky that she is a part of my family.

In yesterday's mail Annie and Susie received very nice baptismal cards from our rotary club.  Thanks for having them sent, they will be keepsakes.

Best regards,
-Bill

We need Volunteers that can babysit in 3 hour shifts between 9am and 9pm.  Click Here.

The twins are getting more active, they both have great lungs and curious eyes. They are growing (Bill estimates about 10-11 lbs each.).

Lucia is acclimating to Newark and the Bay area.  Her mother has moved in with some folks down in Gilroy so she travels down frequently to visit.  Wednesdays and Sundays are still her days off.  If you know of good babysitters for those two days that would be helpful.

BILL:
Bill is almost back to his normal schedule.  He was seen at Rotary last Friday and makes it to work at least 4 days a week.  He is still doing some things now that two years ago he couldn't imagine such as changing baby diapers and feeding the twins every so often.  He get's a chance to take care of the children on Wednesdays and Sundays on Lucia's days off.

VOLUNTEERS: (Directory, Calendar)
The website has been updated with the latest in scheduled volunteers. None of you got phone calls this Sunday, I'd like to switch this around and have you send me emails or phone calls indicating when you want to babysit and I'll put you in the schedule for those times. I just ask that you take a look at the calendar first. Although Lucia is quite competent it would be good to provide some relief for her every so often, so if you feel like dropping in for a 3 hour stint please feel free to signup.

Also, Lucia is taking off Wednesday and Sunday afternoons and evenings.  During those times Bill needs some assistance, he has been baby sitting on his own the last couple of week during some of those periods.  Given that he is a first time single father this is a difficult situation - although his patience and love is limitless - it would help if he had some help during the Wednesday and Sunday times.  Many thanks to those of you who have volunteered for those times.

For this coming week we are still looking for 1-2 volunteers (in addition to Lucia) for each time slot. Take a look at what is scheduled to see if there is a need, and email me your preference. If you want to go immediately or within a couple of hours please call the home at 510-656-3020 to make sure someone is there.

If you know of anyone, competent baby sitter, that is interested in babysitting a couple of wonderful twins, please have them email me or call me at 510-918-6015 to sign them up.

Finally I've started a list of Volunteers that help with meals.  I don't have complete information yet, so if you don't see your name there and you do provide meals regularly (or irregularly) let me know and I'll update the website.
